Daniel Cogan, NP
Founder
Daniel Cogan has dedicated his career to providing compassionate end of life care to the terminally ill in New York. He has over 20 years of experience as a front-line clinician and educator. In addition to being licensed as Adult Health Nurse Practitioner and Gerontological Nurse practitioner, he has advanced certification in hospice and palliative nursing, and geriatric nursing. Daniel teaches communication skills at the NYU School of Nursing, where he is an adjunct professor. He is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Nursing, and earned a Certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from the Montefiore-Einstein Center for Bioethics. In his spare time he is an amateur tree climber and arborist.

David Atkins, LCSW
Founder
David Atkins is a hospice social worker with over twelve years of experience in end-of-life care. He graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Classics before spending nearly fifteen years in South Korea as a Buddhist monk, practicing meditation and living in monastic communities at temples throughout the country. That time sitting with questions of suffering, meaning, and mortality eventually led him to hospice work and to accompanying people at the end of life. David is the cofounder of Quiĕtus, where, in coordination with an interdisciplinary team, he helps provide expert guidance to terminally ill New Yorkers considering Medical Aid in Dying. Outside of work, he runs, hikes, and splits firewood.

Robert Siegel, MD
Physician
Dr. Siegel has dedicated his career to building new pathways for patients to access the care they need. He built New York City’s first home hospice program dedicated to delivering end-of-life care to people suffering from heart failure, then served as Medical Director of Calvary Hospital before joining the Quiĕtus network. Dr. Siegel trained in Medicine at Columbia University and in Cardiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he continues to teach cardiovascular medicine to medical students. In his free time he enjoys exploring New York on bicycles and boats.

Cristian Zanartu, MD
Physician
Dr. Cristian Zanartu is a board-certified internist and palliative medicine specialist based in New York City, focusing on holistic, trauma-informed care spanning from mental health, symptom management, and care of the terminally ill. He earned his medical degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, he went on to complete training at Columbia University and Albert Einstein’s School of Medicine. He has also received training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy. With over 16 years of experience addressing the physical, psychological, and spiritual needs of patients, he has worked at major New York institutions including Montefiore Medical Center and New York Cancer & Blood Specialists. He focuses on treating trauma, believing it can be repaired to improve quality of life, and specializes in providing care to diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ community.

Victoria Kurtz, Ph.D.
Psychologist
Dr. Vicki Kurtz is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York City working with individuals throughout the life span. Practicing for over twenty years, she is especially dedicated to helping bring comfort and peace at the end of life and with easing grief. As a seasoned neuropsychologist, her work as a psychotherapist is informed by her years assessing cognition and emotional functioning. Vicki earned her doctorate at The New School for Social Research and received certification as an end-of-life doula from the University of Vermont. She has completed additional training to hone her skills in contemplative care, bereavement, prolonged grief disorder, meaning-centered psychotherapy, and aging. She is a long-time hospice volunteer, avid bicyclist, and former modern dancer.

Dr. Kathy Keefe-Cooperman
Psychologist
Dr. Kathy Keefe-Cooperman is a licensed psychologist and tenured professor. She has worked throughout her career to help individuals with life’s struggles in a supportive manner using empirically based therapies. Molding future counselors to reflect the highest level of caring, knowledge and professionalism has been a goal for her teaching.
Her dedication to helping others along with her research has been recognized nationally and internationally. She is a member of the prestigious Fulbright Specialist program and has Fellow status with the American Psychological Association and the New York State Psychological Association. In her free time she enjoys boating and reading fictional novels.
All Quiĕtus network clinicians are independently licensed practitioners in New York State.
